Fortunate One

Elva Fields

We've stumbled upon one or two of these fun finds before, and the thrill never fades; a vintage fortune cookie rendered in gold metal is life-size and contains a fortune within that may be removed via chain, this one reading "Life is a song, love is the music." Produced in the 1970s by famed costume jewelry designer Miriam Haskell, these whimsical and clever pendants were originally strung on a simple black silk cord. Here, we've updated the necklace to a long single strand of vintage Japanese glass beads in bright and joyful colors, and a clasp of 14 karat gold over brass. The necklace measures 31" length, while the cookie measures 2" overall.
