This Must Be The Place

Elva Fields

We're nothing short of smitten by this recent vintage find that takes us immediately to one of our favorite cities in the world: Paris. In a design we've not seen in over 20 years of vintage adventuring, this brooch depicts (albeit on a smaller scale) the façade of the celebrated Café de la Paix, complete with awning, solicitous garçon, a bottle of wine on the way to the table, and a seated newspaper-reading patron. All of these delightful details are rendered in gold over brass, save for a rhinestone-jeweled potted plant that brings a pop of green color to the tableau. It is charming, fun, and has that certain je-ne-sais-quoi that leaves one smiling and enchanted. Paired with handmade glass beads from Indonesia crafted in the Venetian style with white dots on a black ground, it's a classic, stylish look. Measures 18" length with gold-over-brass hook clasp.
