One Fish, Two Fish

elva

One fish, two fish, striped fish, blue fish...and two of the most beautifully-crafted brooches we've ever discovered! These stunning swimmers (vintage, of course) came from an old jewelry firm that closed its doors in the 70s and are what is typically called "dead stock," meaning they were created, but never used, worn, or sold. They remain in immaculate condition, with the most wonderful enamel decoration and gilt filigreed accents. We can't get over the intricate scale details or the delicately-woven wire work of the fins - even a polished red coral eye delights with ease and cleverness. The pair is detachable from the striped fire agate beads, and the addition of tiny 150-year-old Yoruba glass beads in bright blue hints at the fun to be had in this design. (So versatile - the fish could adorn a sweater or jacket if you'd like, or enjoy the beaded strands on their own for a less-aquatic look at times.) A gilt copper clasp at back fastens the necklace at 18" in length.
