Everyday Life
Elva Fields
A vintage silver metal buckle becomes a glimpse into everyday life, celebrating the banal-but-beautiful tasks that may seem ordinary, but bring peace, joy, and presence. The scalloped design shows a thatched-roof village among leafy trees, a man playing an instrument, and a women set out to gather with a shoulder-slung pouch. Both charming and stylish, the buckle becomes a clasp of six strands of polished Mexican crazy lace agate beads. Hues in the stunning stone range from golden yellow, pale sand, and soft gray to deep umber, ochre, and brick red - sometimes all within the same round bead. The strands may be worn with the buckle at back, allowing the beaded drape to be shown best or with the buckle at the side of the strands for the addition of silver and scallop - either way is wonderful. The necklace measures 18" length at its shortest strand.
