Jade, according to some legends, is thought to connect us to our ancestors as a protector of generations past and present, as powerful a stone as it is lovely. Here in palest green, a beautiful bloom has been carved and embellished with 14 karat gold details, a vintage find brought to our attention by a wonderful friend at a local business that deals with estates and fine jewelry. (Fun fact: our grandfathers were both local business owners starting in the 1940s and 50s and knew one another long before we did!) The jade of the flower is a near-perfect match for a set of vintage jade and gold beads, so we couldn't resist bringing them together here. Since the flower pendant can be hooked on with its hinged bail at top, it may be worn with these beads or perhaps on another necklace altogether (a favorite gold chain or a strand of pearls?) and the jade beads can be enjoyed on their own without the floral addition. We re-strung the beads from their original silk cord not only to enhance strength and durability, but also to allow for two options: a double drape of the jade beads or one long strand of 33" overall. Essentially, several distinct looks are possible in one necklace, and it clasps with a glorious gilt copper filigree design at back.
