The Grace of Falling Leaves
Elva Fields
A collection of vintage golden leaves originated as pendants across the front of a vintage bib-like necklace and now find their way as falling foliage at the side of some spectacular strands. The lightweight lovelies shimmy and shake among prized vintage beads called "snake vertebrae" for the zig-zag shape that resembles their reptilian namesake. Made in Czechoslovakia and traded throughout Africa throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, these are becoming harder to find, and this playful combination of pink, blue, black, and turquoise (with tiny blips of white mixed in) are exceedingly rare. Here, they're clasped by a gold-over-copper box clasp that shows a lovely leaf and flower design embossed on its surface. Necklace measures 22" length overall.
