No Need To Carry the Blues

A tisket, a tasket, we fell immediately in love with this vintage basket when we saw it at a favorite flea market this fall. The shimmer of stones across the basket's surface not only adds a charming woven-like texture to the basket, but their subtle sparkle is one that only years of experience and existence can bring, and since this brooch likely dates to the 1930s, it certainly has some glittering wisdom to share from nearly 100 years of being beautiful. The blue glass gems are meant to imitate lapis lazuli, and we took those as a cue to add some brilliant blue Czech glass flower beads throughout the glossy black onyx beads of the four strands to unite the basket and beads. To complete the entire look, a vintage rhinestone clasp at back allows adjustable lengths from 17.5 to 19" overall.
