To Marvel and Awe

Two gemstones that inspire and awe with their flashes of light and shimmers of iridescence are moonstone and opal. At a favorite antique spot a few months ago, we stumbled upon this statement-sized (five inches!) design in silver filigree and glass moonstone cabochon jewels. Whether it was originally an element of a vintage buckle or perhaps sewn on to a garment, we knew it would make the most marvelous necklace pendant. The dilemma came when we attempted to pair it with beads - nothing seemed to do those glowing glass moonstones justice. Until we found the gumball-sized opal glass beauties you see here! The scale was just right, the same depths of changing colors from green to golden, blue to pink, lavender and amber...they shift and glimmer with each movement of light, fascinating and delighting. Necklace measures 19.5" length with a silver-over-copper toggle at back.
