So Many Colorful Ways
Elva Fields
So much serendipity in the making of this marvel! We first spied the buckle at one of our favorite antique haunts this winter and immediately adored its rhinestone sparkle mixed with colorful glass cabochons - an Art Deco delight nearly 100 years old. Our first instinct was to pair it with bright turquoise gems with a glossy finish, but something seemed off in favoring only one of the happy-hued gems of the buckle, so we set it aside to ponder. Fast forward a couple of months when we snagged a set of glass strands from Ghana at market, not really knowing exactly which colors might arrive in the bundle of beads...and they were a near-match for the buckle's jewels! Sometimes life really does unfold beautifully in the most colorful of ways. And here we are: nine strands of vintage glass from Ghana, a 1930s buckle, and a necklace that can be worn in so many colorful ways. Measures 18" in overall length.
