H is for Hill Topping

elva

Though we're certainly no entomologist, we have a love of bugs that runs deep--especially for beautiful butterflies.  A behavior exhibited by some of these winged wonders is called hill topping, where butterflies congregate on a hill top or other high point, and it's not known whether they're gathering for mating purposes or simply following their oh-so-social instincts.  When we discovered this stunning silver filigreed friend (a beautiful vintage brooch) these rich green chrysocolla nuggets seemed the perfect suggestion of a verdant perch atop a hill for her.  A silvered copper toggle fastens the three strands at back, measuring 19" in length.
