Prancing in the Paddock

elva

One of our favorite parts of a day at the races is the bit of time before the call to post when the horses are brought out to the paddock for a walk around the fenced area on their way out to the track and starting gate.  Seeing such magnificent creatures up close allows a glimpse of their personality, whether they're excitedly energetic, prancing proudly, or calm and collected in those moments before they run their race. The vintage horse brass pendant, likely of British origin and originally suspended from an equestrian leather bridle, shows a horse in profile, reminiscent of a quick prance in the paddock. Faceted coral resin beads provide a cheerful setting for the brass design, and a hammered bronze toggle clasp completes the look at back. Measures 18" in length.
